LEO CLUBS AWARD CRITERIA FOR FISCAL YEAR 2010 – 2011 DISTRICT 308 –A2

Category 1 – Planning Award


Submission of Action Plan Covering:

l Membership Growth

l Major Projects

l Participation in Leo Camp

l Participation in Leo Forum

l Club Budget

l Schedule of Board Meeting & Fellowship

l Good Image Promotion Activities

Action Plan to be endorsed by Faculty Advisor & Leo Advisor

Action Plan to reach ZC, DC Leo and DC Activities by 15 August, 2010


Category 2 – Outstanding Club Award


1. Must be recipient of Planning Award

2. Installation of Board of Directors before 30 September, 2010

Encourages that Installation should be held at the School

3. Monthly Activities Report (MAR) to be received by ZC, DC Leo, DC Activities, DC Bulletin and Leo Advisor by the 28th of the current month. ( MAR to be submitted electronically )

4. Quarterly project / activity report to be submitted to LCI / DG / 1st & 2nd VDG, ZC / DC Leo / DC Activities / Leo Advisor by 30 September, 2010, 31st December, 2010, 31st March, 2011 and 30th June, 2011

5. Club meeting to hold at least one Board of Directors meeting and one membership meeting per month. BOD meeting must attain majority attendance with the presence of Leo Advisor and Faculty Advisor. Membership meeting must attain attendance by majority of members and guests from sponsoring Lions Clubs.

6. Leadership development to organize singly or jointly or to participate in at least one leadership development seminar, orientation or workshop with substantial membership involved.

7. Observance of International Leo Day , December 5, minimum 50% membership involved in organizing or participating in a special project / activity to make the Day.

8. Conversion initiatives to organize at least one seminar / talk where Leo members are encouraged to join the Lions.

9. Participation in Lions Club projects, to participate either as organizer or project assistant in at least two Lions projects.

10. Protocol and decorum to observe and adhere to Lions protocol and proper decorum in all Leo Club projects and activities.

In the event of a tie, Awards will be given on the recommendations of the relevant Region Chairperson & Zone Chairperson, in collaboration with DC Leo, based on the following considerations:-

l Early submission of MAR and quarterly reports;

l Observation of dress code ( i.e. emblem, vest, etc. )


Category 3 – Excellent Club Award


1. Must be recipient of Planning award.

2. Must fulfill criteria for outstanding Club Award.

3. Satisfy six (6) of the following:-

l Leo Forum – at least 5 members registered for the District Leo Forum

l Leo Camp – to organize or participate in a Leo Camp with substantial members in attendance

l Bulletin or e-bulletin – to publish at least two (2) editions during fiscal year ( Cut-off Date: 31 March, 2011 )

l Publicity – to have at least one project / activity published in a local newspaper ( Cut-off Date: 31 March, 2011 )

l Major Service Project – to organize at least one major service project with 50% attendance and benefiting at least 150 members of the community ( Cut-off Date: 31 March, 2011 )

l Work with Lions – to co-organize or participate in at least two service project with the sponsoring Lions Club with at least 30% members attending ( Cut-off Date: 31 March, 2011 )

l Membership Growth – at least 15% net growth before cut-off date on 31 March, 2011.


Category 4 – Outstanding Leo Award


1. Only two (2) awards will be given, one (1) for the Sabah / Brunei / FT Labuan area and one (1) for Sarawak.

2. DC Leo, with the consensus of the relevant Zone Chairperson, will make the recommendations based on the candidates’

l Level of activity as a member or director

l Leadership qualities

l Academic performance

l Citation from Faculty Advisor

l Other extra-curricular achievements

3. The District Governor reserves the privilege to accept or reject any nomination.


Category 5 – Key Officers’ Awards


District Top 10 Leo Presidents’ Award

Must satisfy 10 of the following requirements:-

1. Complied with duties specified in the Presidents’ Manual

2. Action plan to be submitted by 15th August, 2010.

3. Attend all BOD Meetings.

4. Attend 3 Zone meeting ( Certified by Zone Chairperson )

5. Participate in at least 2 Zone / sponsoring Lions Club projects and activities other than Zone Meetings ( Certified by Zone Chairperson )

6. Leo Club must achieve at least 75% of its action plan.

7. Every Leo Club BOD Meeting agenda must be forward to Zone Chairperson./ Sponsoring Lions Club President / Leo Advisor / Faculty Advisor.

8. Proper and correct conduct of Lions Protocol and Decorum at all times when dealing with District Governor, Lions Dignitaries, District Cabinet officers and amongst Leos.

9. Attend Leo Orientation / Seminar / Workshop on Leadership training, organized by District Level / Zone / Sponsoring Lions Club.

10. Must attend Leo Forum as a Registered Delegate.

In the event of a tie……..

a) District Governor’s discretion.


District Top 10 Leo Secretaries’ Award.

Must satisfy 11 of the following requirements:-

1. Complied with duties specified in the Secretary’s Manual.

2. Action plan to be submitted by 15th August, 2010.

3. Attend all BOD Meeting ( Certified by the President )

4. Attend 3 Zone Meetings ( Certified by Zone Chairperson )

5. Participate in at least two (2) Zone / Sponsoring Lions Club projects and activities other than Zone Meetings ( Certified by Region/ Zone Chairperson )

6. Send reports of Quarterly projects and activity Report ( SPA) to the LCI / District Governor / 1st & 2nd VDG / ZC / DC Leo / DC Activities / Leo Advisor not later than 60 days after completion of the events.

7. Send Monthly Activities Report ( MAR ) to DG / 1st & 2nd VDG / ZC / DC Leo / DC Activities / Leo Advisor before 28th of the current month.

8. Every Leo Club BOD Meeting agenda must be forward to Zone Chairperson. / Sponsoring Lions Club President / Leo Advisor / Faculty Advisor.

9. Proper and correct conduct of Lions Protocol and Decorum at all times when dealing with District Governor, Lions dignitaries, District Cabinet officers and amongst Leos.

10. Attend Leo Orientation / Seminar / Workshop on Leadership training, organized by District / Zone / Sponsoring Lions Club Level.

District Top 10 Leo Treasurers’ Award

Must satisfy 8 of the following requirements:-

1. Complied with duties specified in the Treasurer’s Manual

2. Attend all BOD Meetings ( Certified by the President )

3. Attend 3 Zone meetings ( Certified by Zone Chairperson )

4. Participate in at least 2 Zone / Sponsoring Lions Club projects and activities other than Zone Meetings ( Certified by Zone Chairperson )

5. Club Accounts for every Leo Club BOD Meeting must send a copy to DG / 1st & 2nd VDG / ZC / Sponsoring Lions Club President / Leo Advisor /Faculty Advisor.

6. Proper and correct conduct of Lions Protocol and Decorum at all times when dealing with District Governor, Lions dignitaries, District Cabinet officers and amongst Leos.

7. Attend Leo Orientation / Seminar / Workshop on Leadership training, organized by District Level / Zone / Sponsoring Lions Club.

8. Must attend Leo Forum as a Registered Delegate.
